Assasins Creed Shadows

Global Views: 150m+
Turnaround Time: 3 Weeks
Location: Kyoto, Japan 🇯🇵

🕹️ The Brief

Red Bull and Ubisoft teamed up to launch Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Our mission? Bring the world of the game to life – for real. The setting was an ancient Japanese-style village, fully booked out for three days of filming. The challenge?

⏰ We could only film between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. before the park opened to the public.

🎬 Pre-Production

To make every sunrise count, we built an entire series of live-action Assassin’s Creed challenges. Each one recreated an iconic moment from the game, designed for Red Bull’s professional parkour athletes to take on.

🏃‍♂️ From stealth-based runs through narrow streets
🗡️ To precision climbs and free-flowing chase sequences

Every move was engineered to mirror in-game mechanics while keeping it raw, real, and cinematic.

☀️ The Shoot

Three mornings. Zero margin for error.

The highlight came when Red Bull athlete Dom Tomato performed a real-life Leap of Faith –

💨 Jumping 14.5 meters from a cherry picker crane
🌾 Landing in a pile of two tons of hay that our team hand-sifted and shaped for a safe (but still terrifying) drop.

It was all real. No wires. No cheats. Just pure trust and precision.

🎥 The Filmmaking

To capture it all, we combined cutting-edge tools and old-school filmmaking craft:

🚁 FPV drones for speed and motion
🔄 Insta360 cameras on poles for impossible perspectives/drops
🎞️ DSLRs and cinema cameras for that rich, cinematic texture

The result was a seamless blend of digital style and physical energy that brought the Assassin’s Creed world to life.

⚡ The Result

An adrenaline-fuelled collaboration between Red Bull, Ubisoft, and Perspective Pictures.

A real-world reimagining of one of gaming’s most iconic moments.

Over 150 million global views across social media. A viral hit that blurred the line between game and reality. Exactly the kind of creative chaos we love.

Working with Perspective Pictures has been incredible! They’re super creative, great at project management, and somehow manage to solve even the wildest production challenges, from sourcing hay in a historic temple in Japan, making gamers fly with helium balloons to building a gaming setup in the Lofoten fjords. They also have an amazing understanding of social media, thumbnails, and up to date content production, consistently creating content that’s both audience-focused and irresistibly clickable.
