🎮 The Brief
C.D. Keys came to us with a clear objective: create a large volume of performance-driven video ads that could introduce new audiences to the idea of buying video games for less through CD Keys.
The challenge was scale. While there were only six core creative concepts, each needed to be delivered in multiple lengths, formats, and aspect ratios to work across paid platforms. In total, this resulted in well over 150 final video assets.
All of this needed to be achieved on a modest budget.
🎬 Creative Approach
Rather than overcomplicating the production, we leaned into simplicity and scalability.
The core creative idea was straightforward and repeatable:Different actors delivering short, punchy lines about getting their games cheaper on CD Keys, framed specifically for paid media environments like YouTube pre-roll.
To elevate the visuals without inflating the budget, we planned a studio shoot using a single colourama backdrop as the base of the world.
🎥 The Shoot
The entire shoot took place in one day with a lean crew of four. Actors were filmed against the colourama in a controlled studio setup.This gave us clean, consistent plates that could be heavily enhanced in post-production.
By keeping the production simple, we maximised efficiency on the day and ensured we captured enough variation in performances to support the large number of final outputs.
🎨 Post-Production and Visual Effects
Post-production was where the scale and polish of this project really came to life.
Using motion graphics and visual effects, we:
- Extended the colourama digitally to create a much larger-feeling space
- Added bold graphic overlays and kinetic text
- Built visual energy and pacing suited to paid ads
- Created consistent branding across hundreds of variations
This approach allowed the final videos to feel significantly more premium and expensive than the shoot itself.
✂️ Deliverables and Versioning
From the six core videos, we created:
- Multiple cutdown lengths
- Multiple aspect ratios
- Platform-specific variations
In total, the campaign delivered well over 150 individual video assets, all designed to plug directly into CD Keys’ paid media workflows.
⚡ The Result
A highly scalable, cost-effective paid video campaign that delivered volume without sacrificing quality.
The ads clearly communicated CD Keys’ value proposition and performed effectively as YouTube pre-roll and digital paid media. The success of the campaign led CD Keys to return for additional video content, a strong signal that the approach worked.
A great example of how smart creative planning and strong post-production can turn a small shoot into a large, high-impact campaign.
