Deliverables: 3–4 Tutorial Videos
Crew Size: 5
Location: LEGOLAND, UK 🇬🇧
🧱 The Brief
LEGO approached us to create a series of simple, child-friendly build tutorials featuring one of their Master Builders.
On paper, the brief sounded straightforward. Create clear tutorial videos that help kids understand how to build LEGO models. In reality, there were a few key challenges to solve.
The target audience was children. The builds needed to feel achievable. The videos needed to be short, engaging, and easy to follow.
And while the Master Builders are world-class creators, they are not always used to being on camera.
🎬 Pre-Production
Before filming, we worked closely with the LEGO team to shape builds that were visually satisfying but small enough to be completed quickly.
Long, step-by-step builds would not work for this format or audience, so we focused on:
- Breaking builds down into clear, manageable stages
- Ensuring each tutorial could be completed within a short runtime
- Planning coverage that would keep attention while maintaining clarity
We also designed a multi-camera setup that would allow us to cut smoothly without interrupting the flow of the build.
🎥 The Shoot
Filming took place on location at LEGOLAND, giving the shoot an authentic and inspiring backdrop.
We had a limited filming window of just two and a half hours with the Master Builder before they needed to return to their day-to-day work, so efficiency was critical.
Our setup included three key camera angles:
- A face camera so the builder could speak directly to kids watching
- A wide camera for context and spatial clarity
- A dedicated product camera focused entirely on the build
This allowed us to keep explanations clear, jump between angles seamlessly, and avoid visual confusion for younger viewers.
🎞️ The Filmmaking
Lighting was kept clean, bright, and consistent to ensure every piece was easy to see.
Nothing was overly stylised or cinematic. The priority was clarity, friendliness, and approachability.
By directing gently and keeping the atmosphere relaxed, we helped the Master Builder feel confident on camera while still being themselves.
This balance was key to making the tutorials feel natural rather than overly scripted.
⚡ The Result
In just a few hours of filming, we successfully captured three to four clear, engaging LEGO tutorials designed specifically for kids.
The videos strike the right balance between instruction and fun, helping young builders follow along without feeling overwhelmed.
A simple brief, carefully executed, resulting in content that feels accessible, helpful, and unmistakably LEGO.
