🎄 The Brief

Michael Kors came to us ahead of the Christmas period to create a suite of premium video and still assets showcasing a selection of their products for the US market.

They already had a strong visual reference for how the campaign should look, developed primarily for still imagery. The brief was to elevate this by translating the aesthetic into motion, while maintaining the luxury, polish, and familiarity their audience expects.

🎬 Creative Development

We created a detailed deck outlining how the reference imagery could evolve into video, alongside a small number of additional creative ideas in case the brand wanted to experiment further.

While Michael Kors ultimately chose to stay close to their original references, this collaborative process ensured everyone was aligned and confident before moving into production.

A key creative goal was consistency. Every product needed to feel part of the same high-end world, with seamless transitions and a refined visual rhythm.

🎥 The Shoot

To achieve this, we booked a large virtual production studio featuring a full LED wall, paired with a robotic camera arm.

The robot arm allowed us to program identical camera movements for each product. This meant every item was shot in exactly the same way, enabling precise match cuts across the final edit and creating an ultra-premium, cohesive look.

We invested heavily in prep before shoot day:

  • Testing robot arm movements
  • Researching current fashion film trends
  • Scouting the LED stage capabilities
  • Experimenting with surface finishes and lighting fades

A last-minute glass table sourced locally turned out to be the perfect match for the campaign’s aesthetic, closely aligning with the original references.

👥 On Set Workflow

The shoot was intense and highly choreographed.

With 12 to 15 products to capture and both video and stills required for each, we effectively ran two shoots in parallel:

  • A photography setup operating on one side of the studio
  • The LED wall and robot arm video setup running on the other

Products were rotated between setups to keep everything moving efficiently.

A stylist and photographer worked alongside our team, while the client was present throughout the day.

We set up a large on-set monitor so the client could review footage in real time, give feedback instantly, and sign off shots as we went. This kept the day collaborative, fast-paced, and enjoyable despite the intensity.

🎞️ Post-Production

Post-production focused on enhancing the precision captured on set.

Key techniques included:

  • Match cutting between products
  • Speed ramping to add energy and elegance
  • Careful colour grading to ensure exact product accuracy
  • Polished finishing to match Michael Kors’ luxury standards

Because so much of the work was achieved practically in camera, the edit process flowed smoothly and allowed the visuals to truly shine.

⚡ The Result

A refined Christmas asset suite designed specifically for a luxury US audience.

In total, the project delivered:

  • 8 core videos
  • Each supplied in two aspect ratios
  • Versions with and without audio
  • 34 final video assets overall
  • More than 120 high-end stills

A fast, ambitious, and creatively rewarding project that pushed premium product filmmaking through smart use of technology, strong preparation, and close collaboration with the client.
