LEGO Dots

Shoot Days: 1
Deliverables: Multiple Videos in 9:16 and 16:9
Crew Size: 4
Location: UK 🇬🇧

🧩 The Brief

LEGO approached us with a particularly meaningful project centred around LEGO DOTS.

The goal was to show how creativity can be empowering, inclusive, and deeply personal.

LEGO DOTS had developed small decorative panels designed to attach to prosthetic limbs, giving children with limb difference the opportunity to personalise their prosthetics using LEGO creativity. Our role was to document this process with care, honesty, and warmth.

🎬 Pre-Production

This project required a very different mindset to a typical production. Beyond planning shots and deliverables, the priority was people.

We worked closely with LEGO and families to ensure the environment felt safe, welcoming, and calm for the children and their parents.

Flexibility was key, as every child had different needs, personalities, and comfort levels.

The intention was simple:

Create space for genuine moments to happen and capture them.

🎥 The Shoot

The filming day brought together children with limb difference, their parents, and the LEGO team.

Together, they used LEGO DOTS to create unique artwork that could be attached to their prosthetics. Portraits, patterns, landscapes, and abstract designs emerged, each one entirely personal to the child who made it.

There were many quiet, powerful moments throughout the day:

  • Children proudly showing their creations
  • Parents watching their kids light up with confidence
  • Families sharing joy, laughter, and pride together

With a small crew of four, we kept our footprint minimal so the experience stayed intimate and relaxed.

🎞️ The Filmmaking

The filmmaking approach was intentionally unobtrusive.

We focused on natural light, handheld movement, and honest sound to ensure the content felt real rather than staged.

Coverage included:

  • Close, gentle moments between parents and children
  • The creative process of building with LEGO DOTS
  • Emotional reactions as finished designs were revealed

Multiple edits were created in both 9:16 and 16:9 formats to allow the stories to live naturally across platforms.

⚡ The Result

A series of deeply moving films that celebrate creativity, individuality, and inclusion.

Rather than focusing on difference, the videos focus on expression, joy, and possibility. It was a privilege to witness such a positive and emotional experience, and an honour to help LEGO share these stories with the world.
